Payroll neither creates data nor a upstream primary process. Payroll is a midware process in an over all business process of a company. Let me know your thoughts?
Karen was interested in Lean/Six sigma in Payroll & to discuss on what departments must be included or excluded. To the first point.....I will open a discussion posting by this week end. Regarding later point.......the posting with note "Is payroll a process or symptom" will be the correct forum. Payroll can include or exclude a department (HR, Payroll accounting, T&E, Time & attendance, HR data management etc) depending how company wants to consolidate its ROI on process improvement. Payroll in isolation is only manifestation on imperfections in the process (like C&B policy, Payroll practice, employee communication etc.
